After women-centric projects, Mollywood is gearing up for children’s films. The latest to add to the list is Rojin Philp’s and Shanil Mohammed’s directorial debut, Robert Brigow’s Monkey Pen.
Like the wacky title, the movie is a laugh riot about a school boy and his friends. “The story revolves around a fifth grader, Ryan, who is unable to complete his mathematics homework. The story takes off from there and he is joined by his gang of five friends, including his love interest,” says Rojin, adding, “Since it’s our maiden venture, we did not want it to be a hero-oriented subject.” Jayasurya and Remya Nambeesan play the boy’s parents in the film. The duo last shared screenspace in Husbands in Goa.
The makers are planning to rope in celebrity kids in the lead. “We are planning to have Indrajith’s daughter, Babu Antony’s son and Suraj Venjaramood’s son in the film. Though, we are still in talks for the same,” informs producer Sandra Thomas.
Remya’s brother Rahul Subramaniyam will score the music of the film, which will go on floors in May.
