He had a mix of decent fast bowlers and two great spinners in Kumble and Harbhajan. His contribution to the so called team building was that he supported Yuvraj, Harbhajan, and Zaheer. Ganguly as a tactician was mediocre. But he was a good leader of men. The opposite is true for Dravid.
