That does'nt stopped determined ms Dhoni from leading his team to a iconic win over srilanka.promoting himself up to the order man of steel showed his finishing skills when his team needed his services the most . yes msd that final six was in to the heart of billions who loved this game !

2.183*vs srilanka-jaipur(2005)

Game were he announced his arrivel in to the internationel scene .chasing 298 for victory loosing sachin for just 1 run in walked Dhoni , then what we itnessed was diwali stuff . smashing 10 sixes he scored 183 from just 145 bowls too lead his team to victory thus by shatterring many world records ..!!!

3. 45* vs srilanka port of spain-port of spain (2013)

chasing 202 in a tri series final , india collapsed to 148-7 . with only tail enders left with dhoni . but that's were he showed batting with tail is an art that only few people can do.requiring 15 runs of the final over ice cool man did it again ..646 .. art of finishing at its best . india clinched a clip hanger !!!

Yet again this man was left with only tail ender's with more than 11 runs to chase in the final over .pressure situation ..failing to score in final over's ? ..wtf is that ? .. yes he did it again . huge six of clint mckay over long on that registered a distance of 112m..australians got the taste of their on medicine .yes indeed even micheal bevan would appreciate that !!!

5. 46* against west indies -grose islet ,st lucia 2009

Captain courageous led from the front as he scored a Man of the Match/match-winning 46 in 34 balls to successfully chase down 159. In the third and decisive match of the one-day series between India and the West Indies, rain threatened to play spoilsport. Thankfully, it relented just enough to at least allow 20-odd overs per side.

Thanks to the Duckworth-Lewis Method, Team India had to score the required runs in 22 overs. Dhoni made sure the visitors got home with 6 wickets in hand and a ball to spare. A close finish indeed!

# THERE are many brilliant and nail biting finishes like the above mentioned chases by ms DHONI like his 50 against srilanka in adelaide 2008 , with out even scoring a single boundary he managed a strike rate of 100 and his heroics in pakistan . but those 5 remains best for me !!

No one knows the real Mahendra Singh Dhoni, says Sunil Gavaskar



The accolades are flowing in torrents for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The Indian skipper has been showered with the best of cricketing adjectives after his 52-ball 45 not out helped India clinch a nail-biting win against Sri Lanka in the final of the tri-nation series in Port of Spain in the wee hours of Friday (Indian time).

The latest to join the Dhoni admirers list is Sunil Gavaskar, who says it is impossible to decipher the captain's real character and intentions. Almost everyone is making an opinion on the Indian captain, who smashed his way past hapless Sri Lanka pacer Shaminda Eranga to score 16 runs off three deliveries as India won a humdinger with two balls to spare.

Dhoni is winning the debate of "who is the best finisher in the game" hands down as the Indian captain keeps providing his muscular touch to many a coveted Indian win. Dhoni's nearest competitor is former Australian batting all-rounder Michael Bevan, but with a far superior strike rate (89.63 to Bevan's 66.42) in successful chases in ODIs, the Indian captain seems to be only competing against himself.

After suffering a hamstring injury, Dhoni was a doubtful starter in the final against the Lankans. But India's 2011 World Cup-winning skipper surprised many when he walked in to toss with Angelo Mathews. "MS Dhoni was not even supposed to be fit for the final. There is no cricketer who has got India back from impossible situations so many times," wrote Gavaskar in his newspaper column on Saturday.

Gavaskar says it is impossible to understand the real Dhoni. "Perhaps even his closest buddies don't know him as well as they think they do," said Gavaskar, who then goes on to pay a rare tribute to a professional sportsperson. "If tomorrow he has to say goodbye to all the trappings of fame, Dhoni will calmly get on his motorbike and go away. He is that rarity who treats both those impostors - wins and losses - in the same way. He simply plays the game," wrote Gavaskar.

On Friday, Dilip Vengsakar paid rich tribute to Dhoni, saying his composure under pressure is simply unique. As for the man himself, Dhoni will be on a richly-deserving holiday with wife Sakshi, probably somewhere in the Americas.
