Nokia gets in the sustainability game, talks up dancing to charge your Lumia
How to charge your phone by dancing
Awesome Tech
In 2014, there are a lot of cool things. One of those, is not batteries. In fact, they’re downright ancient by comparison to the explosion of mobile tech. To put it another way, there really hasn’t been any new tech in batteries in years, although Qi 1.2 with its resonance charging is a nice step forward.
Nokia has posted a video today, slightly humorous, highlighting the issue. Shot entirely on a Lumia 1020, the video demonstrates how Nokia is working on various technologies to help charge your phone when you’re not near an outlet. The main one featured is a system using kinetic energy that transfers into electricity to charge a battery. It’s a neat idea, but as noted at the end, it still takes some time to charge.
Regardless, it’s great to see Nokia ahead on this issue than many other companies. Of course, in the end it’s about business – and patents – so it’s not entirely a Good Samaritan move, but we like how they’re at least highlighting the problem.

Watch out for Nokia's Martini, another Windows Phone 8.1 device
Leakster extraordinaire, @evleaks, doesn’t need more than 140 characters to get people excited. In a recent tweet, he claims to watch out for a device codenamed Martini from Nokia. Apparently, it is another Windows Phone 8.1 device. No images have been shared and no other information has been provided.
We don’t know much about the device, but we do know some of the new features that Windows Phone 8.1 (codename Blue), may bring. Thanks to the leaked Windows Phone 8.1 SDK, we are able to get a preview. Some of the highlights include:
Notification center – Alerts, non-Toast notifications, update history
Quick-access to customized actions, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Plane mode, etc.
Start screen backgrounds
Swipe keyboard
Swipe down to close apps in multitasking view
Search button will be the new way to open Speech (aka ‘Cortana’)
VLC is confirmed..In December 2013 they have given an update also in their official website. But about Mozilla..I'm not sure.
Readying the release
We are preparing the release, fixing the important bugs, notably an audio crash that got us rejected from the store. We have numerous small bugs that are annoying, notably some thumbnails, crashing and the audio browsing part.
We hope to work on it until this week-end and then submit once again.
