Ambitious,But Amateurish!
With Irandam Ulagam director Selvaraghavan tried to bringout something untold,but couldn't triumph.The idea of existence of a parallel world was good,but the execution is not upto the mark.The earthy scenes were engaging.But wistfully,the much hyped visual effects splendor seemed really pathetic on screen,may be due to constrained budget,which can be excused only considering it as a Kollywood film.Unlike Selvaraghvan's previous films which had the support of a tight screenplay,here the storyline is confusing and slow ,because of which the viewers loses the interest in the proceedings after a point.

The major reason for the failure is the presentation of the parallel world which reminds us of some european village in glitters.Everything seems amateurish and we feels as if we are reading some fairytale set in europe.The first half of the movie is passable with the earthy scenes showing the proveness of Selvaraghavan in depicting romance.The intensity of the theme got lost midway and the second half feels wooden and silly.Arya and Anushka were good.Music by Harris Jeyaraj is melodious and lovable.

Overall,Irandaam Ulagam is a good theme which couldnt make wonders because of an uninteresting and predictable screenplay.Brave attempt gone vain!

Arya and Anushka were good in their respective roles.I was particularly impressed by Arya's portrayal of Madhu Balakrishnan.

Verdict::Efforts gone fruitless! Irandam Ulagam is yet another proof that good themes doesnt always transform into good films.The earthy scenes are appealing,but the depiction of the parallel world was a total failure.Even the good performances by the lead pair couldnt save the movie from sinking in the second half.Give it a miss!
