Watchable Disaster Epic,But Fails To Pack A Punch!
Paul.W.S.Anderson never disappoints as far as the Special Effects & VFX is concerned,the same is the case with Pompeii too.But strangely this disaster epic never tries to be serious enough in presenting the tension arising when the whole city is in ruins as Mount Vesuvious ruptures.To add to the grief,Pompeii deliberately ward off the normal life of Pompeii & people,giving importance to gladiator fights,political plays & a jaded lovestory.The movie lacks clarity & the romantic element is half-baked.The audience will feel least interested in watching this booming romance in the wrong place in the wrong time!The action sequences especially the sword fights have been pictorised well & the special effects too have come out well,but the 3D effects are below par with the color balancing making it hectic for the eyes.Kit Harrington is convincing as Kolt,the slave turned warrior & was impressive along with Adewale who was really good in his role.The high-budget flick borrows heavily from films like Gladiator,Spartacus etc but is miles away from these films in perfection.Overall,Pompeii fails to showcase the storyline in a conclusive way & falls below the mark.
