pathemari, relied so much on true life incidents as a pravasi I can relate. Most malayalees having relatives who are pravasis or themselves have been a pravasi at one point can relate to the film..Thats how big the audience for the film is..
whereas for AHB the episodes of a real police officer can be only related to by actual police officers. The film does entertain throughout , but unfortunately ee oru flaw vechanu degrading.. although unanimous positive reviews from critics

Aadya divasangalil earth shattering initialum venam ennal 1983 pole critical acclaimum venam enna directorude over confidence aanu ithil prashnam aayathu....And naan oru nivin pauly hater onnum alla....but he has miles to go before he can be considered a superstar or anything of that sort....He has far too many weaknesses as an actor, of course with a lot of strengths as well....he has to choose his scripts and the team behind the movie carefully....

going bny the same standards, i think most malayalees wud have had some or other kind of acquaintance with police, esp since this film seems to be dealing with a day-today kind of police cases...

so that is no the problem... pathemari heavily depended on the performance factor as well...
