"The Dimwits Are Back With A Passable Storyline,Dumber & Marginally Less in Thrills Compared To The First"


Dumb & Dumber,released way back in 1994,was a celebrated slapstick comedy which is considered to be a cult classic in the genre by many.With Dumb & Dumber To,20 years since the road trip happened,Harry & Lloyd set out for a journey in search of Harry's daughter Penny,about whom he gets to know from an old postcard dated 20 years back.


Co-written by as many as six writers,namely Peter Farrelly,Bobby Farrelly,Sean Anders,John Morris,Bennett Yellin & Mike Cerrone & directed by the Farrelly brothers,Dumb & Dumber To has its moments which could tickle the funbones as the prequel,but lacks the robustness that the former had & looks as if an exaggerated version of the first part in many means.Nothing much have changed except the fact that the dimwits got dumber than they were 20 years before.The over-dependance on old numbers to evoke laughs is evident throughout the narration & materializes a countable number of jokes that are dull rehashes of the original.


But,eventhough not as funny as the previous part,Dumb & Dumber To manages to evoke numerous situations where one couldn't resist but laugh,thanks to the awesome chemistry between Jim Carrey & Jeff Daniels,& the flexibility & comic timing that both posess even at their fifties.


Jim Carrey is a master when it comes to slapstick humor & the easiness with which he makes the viewer laugh by his small antics ,for instance the idiotic way of having a hot dog or using the mouth freshner to the wrong side proves that he hasn't lost the charm & fluidity evnethough long 20 years have passed since the original hit the theatres.Jeff Daniels too isnt an exception & manages to pull out decent gags as in the original.The chemistry between both is brilliant & a major reason the dumb storyline is saved in numerous situations.


Music by Empire Of The Son is average,so is the case with the technical finesse thats adequate for a movie of this genre.


Overall,Dumb & Dumber To fails to match the quirkiness & fun that the prequel offered,but is a decent recommendation if u love slapstick humor that guarantees enough laughs to call it worth the money spent.
