P.K…..Swagath Ho……Into the world of Innocence, Madness & Mayhem…….
As an ardent lover of Aamir Khan movies, which comes with an almost irritating space in between, today I went to Kollam-Dhanya, as if programmed….still dreaming about dishes that would be served by the irrepressible combo of Aamir-Raju Hirani & Vidhu Vinod Chopra…..Am I satisfied?..lets see…
The movie starts literally from the first frame itself……before we relax to our seat, Aamir is before our eyes, in all his manliness. From there on he is there in every frame….in various attires…..without dialogues…with sweet Bhojpuri accented dialogues……with blinking eyes….with fan like ears…..as a nameless….as P.K…………Not going into much of the story, considering the surprise factor……
First Negatives……..Parallels may be drawn with the bold and sweet ‘Oh My God’ due to the similarity in the social plank the movie selected….even though P.K has much more relaxed tone………and the list of minuses has only this entry, as a list Saurabh Shukla gets from his men in the movie regarding his good deeds….
And the positives are huge, also like the bulky files placed before Shukla containing questions from his disciples……Simplicity of storytelling, without any unnecessary deviations……..Utterly Hilarious situational comedies, laced with satire…likeable characters as always in Hirani Films… terrific dialogues …good camera work…the superb Bhagwan song….and above all, the character of P.K, whose innocence gradually picks up the tricks and trivias of the greatest show on earth called India……Hats off to Hirani, for the serving such a sweet and different dish…he does not try to exploit the surprise quotient of the film which is limited to the beginning and end….he portrays his vision in a credible and straightforward way in this ‘incredible’ movie…..
Now,why Aamir in this film?........However brave are Hirani & Chopra, this film would have died in womb itself,without Aamir,…he lends his image as a thinking man’s actor and a perfectionist upon which Hirani can weave his lovable fantasies, with a sort of security…….and about performance….Kya kehna?...just watch,enjoy,think,laugh and cry with P.K……….
May be not in the league of 3I...since it is in a different league of its own…….Watch it…..Enjoy the simple and heartwarming tale of this 'rangeelo mehman’……….
