Tigmanshu Dhulia was in the news for casting Vidyut Jamwal as the younger version of Irrfan Khan in his film Yaara. Just when he was about to lose sleep looking for an actor to play an older Shruti Hassan, the Ramaiyya Vastavaiya bombshell put his mind at ease by volunteering to play her older self. The Luck actor will be seen sporting grey hair for the film that spans two distinct eras.

Shruti’s bravado is commendable. Actors like Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla have shied away from playing elderly characters in the past but the younger lot of actors has proven to be less vain.

Bollywood heroines like Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut should be thanked for being so inspirational. Had it not been for them, younger actors wouldn’t have found the courage to experiment without fear.
