Especially after seeing the ill treatment toward Malayalam by Tamil Nadu government. In places like Kanyakumari and Nilgiri, Malayalees are forced to use Tamil as their mother-tongue. These are not migrants and TN government is doing everything to eliminate languages like Malayalam in Tamil Nadu. Also because of the higher taxes for non-Tamil movies, there are no takers for Malayalam movies even in border districts. ( Multiplexes are the only exception).

In which state can you tolerate Malayalam movies getting maximum record of 140 screens and every big Tamil movie getting 200 screens? Of course this might happen in states like Orissa and Gujarat and Bengal where there is no developed film industry but should not happen in a full fledged industry like Malayalam.

The only positive thing here is that very few Tamil movies have crossed 15 crore collection in the long run. Long run is always still for Malayalam with 40 crores 50 crores etc. A superhit film collects 20 crores. So it proves that our films success is mainly on the basis of quality and not by support.
In all other south Indian states, there are strict rules against non-native language movies. All three industries -Kannada, Tamil and Telugu - are getting tax advantage. In Kerala, the Government hardly pay any attention to movie industry. It is so disappointing.

In spite of this films like Premam did record business in Tamil Nadu. So what would have happened if there was a wide release there.

    Malayalam films would have rocked.

Here one malayali lost his life for Vijay. Sad!

Unnithan is much better, but still no real support at the ministry level.

Yes that too when they are earning heavy revenue as taxes from this industry.
