Yes. Kannada has same kind of issues maybe more than us. Avide they need to compete with Telugu and Hindi too and now Malayalam films have started growing in cities like Bangalore and Mangalore I read. Here only Tamil and that too maybe when a VJ, Suriya or Rajni or Shankar film release.
Ithavana kasthakaalam vannathu S3 and Bhairava released almost same time. Otherwise strike would not have been so long. Do you think theatres would have survived?

What needs not be noted is that in katnataka native kannada speakers form just 65% of populayion so their movies have a smaller market anyway and dont compete dirrctly with tamil, malayalam, hindi. Their difficult is yo get adequatr theatres due to other langauage releasrs which the goverment has remedied by imposing restriction on OL movies.also lower tax is there. In malayalam no such help. Only contrnt quality is hrlping malayalM movirs survive despite adverse circumstances
From trivamdrum - thrissur there is not much problem with A class rls centres lot of them are screening movies but mlabar is the strong area of federation where govt and b Class centres are short...
