The wide release thing just got me thinking of few years back.
I watched drishyam for the first time in theaters on the 80th day in trivandrum sreevishakh. People in those days didn't put status/spoiler videos etc in social media then.
In 2015, I watched premam 3 weeks after release. Now this movie was released in only 2 theaters which belonged to Merryland cinemas. This situation really created traffic block in Thampanoor. I used to think why there is no other theaters releasing the movie so that all of the people can watch the movie quickly.
In 2016, I watched pulimurugan in Aries plex big screen on the 3rd day after release on a Sunday. Because of online tickets and wide release, people were able to see the movie in the first week itself.
The audience are waiting for new content and want to see as quickly. Because of online ticket, family audience also coming in 1st week itself.

Applicable to our own films too ... Big star / hyped films nu mathram mathi 100+ screens... No point in releasing a nil hype film in 100+ screens...if film has good reports and crowd can add screens later on...and FYI Siva karthikeyan films have not been released in 100+ screens here ...

Big star /hyped films are getting 200-300 to even 400 -500 screens in Malayalam and they deserve it also. Why only 100 plus screens?
Our non hyped films are getting 100 plus screens because theatres are available. When screens are available in our own state why should they replace our films with other language films.
Dont you think Malayalam films should get a priority in its own home state???? What is the the point in giving equal weightage for other language films and our local films???? When other states are protecting their movies we too have the right to
Avde ith oru issue alla...their business will have a very less impact due to these films bombing since their market is way bigger than ours... Ivde huge collection edukunath 2-3 films mathram aanu ...and our market is also small so maximum films success aayale industry survive cheythu pokathullu...
