74. I Saw The Devil (Korean)
Director : Kim Jee-Woon
I saw the devil is yet another intriguing crime/revenge thriller from Korean Cinema. With exemplary performances from the two lead actors, Lee Byung-hun and Choin Min-sik, "I Saw The Devil" is one of the most exhilarating and adrenaline pumping revenge thrillers I have ever seen. Kim Jee-Woon narrates the story in a slow yet engaging way with stupendous use of music that enhances your experience as a viewer. The story and the way it is narrated is the key element that makes this film stand out from the other thrillers and belong to league of its own accompanied by some lovely shots, superb editing pattern and a remarkable sound design. A must watch film. People who say Oldboy is the best revenge thriller might have not seen this one!

75. Tschick (Goodbye Berlin)(German - 2016)
Director : Fatih Akin
Finally saw this one! Was eagerly waiting to watch this film after hearing the positive response it recieved during the Mumbai Film Festival (I missed this one at that time, saw "The Wailing (Korean)" instead).
Tschick/Goodbye Berlin is a film that narrates a simple story in a simple way, the story of two teenage boys who embarks on a road trip in a stolen car. The wonderfully shot beautiful locales of Germany is the biggest plus point of this film. Then comes its soothing soundtracks and rhythmic editing pattern along with the performances of the lead actors, two fourteen year old boys. Even though a similar storyline has been tried out in many films, something about "Tschick" makes it a different experience.
Overall, a good film!

During the film festival, while waiting outside the screening hall for my film to start, got the chance to meet and have a small chat with "Adoor Gopalakrishnan", who was a bit late for his movie, "Tschick/Goodbye Berlin"!
76. The Past/Le Passé (French - 2013)
Director : Asghar Farhadi
Cast : Berenice Bejo, Tahar Rahim, Ali Mosaffa
After some outstanding Iranian outings, Asghar Farhadi again comes up with a simple plot and makes a highly engaging piece of cinema, this time a French film. The main reason I love Farhadi's works is what I mentioned above, making an engaging and fascinating piece of work from a very simple plot.
The film is somewhere a bit similar to his Oscar winning film "A Separation". Bejo, Mosaffa and Rahim performed splendidly in this wonderfully crafted film while considering the technical side, the sound design was simply one of the best! The sound designer has captured and placed as many sounds as he could and has formed a layer of sounds of more than just what meets the eye, enhancing the narrative of the film superbly. The cinematography and editing was good. Again, like Farhadi's previous works, the storytelling relies a lot on the dialogues, which we have to actually remember throughout because of the turns the film take now and then, otherwise you'd be sitting clueless later.
Overall, Le Passé/The Past is yet another engaging piece of work from one of my favourite filmmakers, Asghar Farhadi. My Top 3 Asghar Farhadi films still remain the same : The Salesman, About Elly and A Separation.
