I, TONYA. Biopic of American figure skating sensation Tonya Harding covering her heights on being the first American to perform the triple axel to the all-time low of having attacked her friend and fellow skater Nancy Kerrigan just days before the '94 Olympics. Liked the narrative used. Interviews of the main characters, plus breaking the fourth wall conversations. peppered with some great characters like her tough, over-bearing middle-class struggling mother who knows her better than the rest, her coach who knows she has it but also knows she will blow it soon, her husband who orchestrated the attack to see her become the best, husband's dumb counterespionage bouncer and of course the American Skating Association which wants to project American skaters as products of wholesome American families, something which Tonya never was and never will be. great performance by Margot Robbie. wasn't much impressed by allison janney's mother role (for which she got oscar), seemed to one-line track for me. anyways quirky characters with weird dreams makes this worth a watch.

    The Shape of Water

The Shape of Water is like a poetic depiction of inexplicable romance that blossoms between a speechless woman and an amphibian creature. To be honest, there is nothing visionary about this cinema, and the fact that it received the academy award for best picture makes it a tad overrated. The best thing about this film is Sally Hawkins, her triumphant performance along with a profound soundtrack holds this movie together. The Shape of Water is not a masterpiece, nevertheless,it's quite a good experience.

    Call Me by Your Name

Call Me by Your Name has a couple of remarkably begulling moments, still,it's a bit far from being a spellbinding cinema.Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer were truly exceptional with their performances, indeed their mesmerizing onscreen camaraderie was the finest aspect in this film.Call Me by Your Name can be watched for its great performances - Nothing more,Nothing less.

    Default Early Summer

    Early Summer (1951)
    directed by Yasujiro Ozu

Written by Ozu and Kogo Noda
Starring Setsuko Hara, Chishu Ryu, Chikage Awashima, and Kuniko Miyake
    Music by Senji Ito
    Cinematography by Yuuharu Atsuta
    Editing by Yoshiyasu Hamamura

Ozu?s main theme in his films was always about the dissolution of the family. This film shows that, it portrays the family life
in Japan right after WWII. I assume most Asians would very well understand the large family structure and all? One of Ozu?s best, a masterpiece indeed.

THE DISASTER ARTIST. Based on Greg Sestero's book of the same name starting from the time he attended acting classes to meeting the eccentric Tommy Wiseau and then ending up being his room-mate, pinky partner and later part of the 'best worst movie' ever 'The Room'. reminded me of Tim Burton's 'Ed Wood'. both wood and wiseau are so confident of their talent that they are just not able to see beyond the obvious. had happened to go through the script of this movie where there was a scene in which we get to know that wiseau has no idea about the popular movies made in hollywood. in the movie they show sestero showing him James Dean's 'Rebel Without a Cause' (you are tearing me apart!) but the script goes a bit further in showing how wiseau is out of the times with 'Home Alone' or 'Terminator'. the 'i did not hit her' scene, the bellybutton intercourse scene, the laughing at the tragedy scene, the movie has smoothly infused them into the narrative. good performance by james. ably supported by the coming of the age character of dave. overall a fun movie to watch.

I don't know why Get Out film got so many nominations? There's nothing extraordinary about it. In fact I think the Tamil film Pizza is much much better as a horror genre film.

frankly, it did not matter whether they find the killer or not... the rape and murder are never shown, simple because this is not a revenge/thriller movie... its more about how a series of events effect the lives of certain fractured people associated with the events... can't say billboards is a thriller... more of a drama definitely... would even call it a black comedy movie... not a thriller definitely...
