it insults christian faith: the movie does not insult christian faith. it exposes pentecost pastors who claim to have healing powers. these so-called frauds expouse that faith is enough to move mountains. they sell medicines which prevent the believers from seeking medical help. i think, the movie released at the right time. right now, why has no pastor claiming to have healed corona virus? i mean, pastors claim to cure tumors and cancers, why can't they find a vaccine for covid? if faith was all that was required, why have pastors closed their churches to prevent believers from gathering together? why are pastors afraid of the virus? why has believers church hospital opened an isolation ward if faith was all that is required to perform miracles and heal world-wide pandemics?
calls its prayers buffoonery: the movie doesn't call prayers as buffoonery. on the contrary, it portrays prayers have become so addictive that believers tend to lose their sense of what is right and wrong. so wrong that a person who loses his daughter, takes her body to the pastor believing the pastor can raise her out of the dead. prayers are becoming so infectious that people touch their televisions at home seeking blessing from the evangelist on screen. all the movie wants to say is, if you believe in god, any god, then believe that, that god has given you the power to overcome obstacles, you don't need any greedy selfish self-centered quacks doing that for you.
even equates the hero's character as jesus christ in indirect manner: this movie does not equate the hero's character to jesus christ. the movie shows how, after a certain point of gaining followers and building the communion, all godmen reach a point where they start to think they are god themselves. take the example of osho rajneesh or charles manson. both started communes and ended up believing themselves to be god and when their predictions didn't work out, they harmed their own believers. take history, lots of people have claimed to be the second reincarnation of jesus and failed in their attempt to levitate themselves as gods.
