One thing was sure , Zidane was obviously counting on Marcelos dribbles down the left wing. While leaving the defensive work and tracking back duty to a much faster and younger LB Theo . Also Zidane was expecting more from the link up plays.
I am also not a fan of selling Morata. But it was the players decision to leave. Zidane has promised him game time during pre season. But Morata needed regular 1st team action . MAybthe fact that this is a world cup season also played a role in making up his mind. And Real Mardid has never held a player against their wishes . So they let him go for a good transfer amount.
The only thing i dont like about Zidane is , he is reluctant to make a change . Usually goes beyond 70 minutes to makes his 1st change, which is very frustrating espescially when the team is struggling. And I always felt that he has a partiality towards Benzema.
Asensio is getting his due time this season. Couldnt blame Zidane , coz Isco is on a roll. But i feel with Asensio has got substantial amount of game time with injuries to Benzema, Cr7 suspension, poor form of BAle. He has even managed to rotate Luca and Toni. My only worry is about Cebbalos and Llorente. More for Llorente coz it will be difficult to unseat Casemiro and Casemiro is also a Zidane favorite. Happy that he decided to extent his contract the previous day. ZIdane needs to find a way to keep Cebbalos happy.
