Default Lucifer Review - Disappointed! (Fanboy Review)

I rarely do come on FK for the last few years and only do to check few threads etc. After seeing this film yesterday, thought of writing a review :)

Saw the movie yesterday at London.. first fans show here but atmosphere and response was nowhere near the response for tamil films.
    Lalettan,Prithvi, Tovino got claps throughout.

Coming to the film, main positive is Lalettan acting + fight scenes.. personal fav is one with tamil BGM and small fight scene with John Vijay pre interval. Adrenaline was pumping for both these scenes!
    Thoroughly enjoyed the first half!

Second half also started off well but what started getting irittating was the overdose of references to devil etc. Those dialogues felt childish and could have been replaced with better mass dialogues like he had said to Nyla + Vivek
I've felt Prithvi has an obsession with illuminati/dark films + I think it is a good decision he does films like Brother's Day, as being a semi fan boy of his, do prefer his old films pre-Ezra than his experimental ones - as most of them are half-baked..!
The last dialogue from Mohanlal that Kerala is Lucifer's own country felt awkward and felt more like they intended to make a Lal mass film glorifying evil :/ I guess only those intelligent enough will be able to see this.

This follows onto the moral confusion I felt with the film. While the films tries to show a message + shines great insights on drugs, politics, the last 20 mins/ climax was a big let down and felt like a Shaji Kailas film
The item song was over IMO and too long, although the music went well with the fight scenes in between.. would have been better if there was a mass song instead like the one in Lal's first fight.
Items songs never go well with Malayalam films + audience.

I also felt that Lal's character was flawwed as we are taken through a childhood where he sees goodness and supports an orphanage, helps innocent people, fights evil people etc. but then utters dialogue supporting evil?
Mankatha worked better here as he was a complete negative character. Here I felt Stephen was switching between the two and both Prithvi/Murali didnt etch this out well. Tbh, Odiyan Manikyan made more sense than this haha

Altogether the film was great action film, it was unfortunately spoiled by a terrible climax and some stupid dialogues from Murali. I didnt mind the pace of the film as much as some of these dialogues.

    6.5/10
