I don't know........

One side - visually this looks like usual war/period movies we already seen. Nothing unique.

Other side - ARR, ARR, ARR - USP of this film.

Ponniyin selvan has content matter for multiple season web series.

Translating this huge saga into 3 hr movie is impossible.

So probably Mani will touch important story points only.

Still, I have some hope.

(Baahubali had insane visuals , this one has better story & will have good music no doubt)

This has such a powerful story. A lot better than bahubali...but when it translates into a 5 to 6 hr movie, can it be pulled off. . If not, it'll just look like one of those period war movies.
Visually enikku appealing ayittu thoniyilla. A lot of things looked like bahubali at least in the teaser. They could have attempted to look different.
Scenes trisha nayanthara face to face allathe onnum oru curiosity thannittu illa. No wow factor.
But still have hope. Maniratnam dream project aanu. He will bring out something special

Ravi Varman is a brilliant cinematographer, he is up there with the best. I wasn't talking about the visual aesthetics, because it looks solid. The general aura of the film, the filmmaking language, teaser cuts, they all differ a lot from the usual Mani Ratnam style. Maybe for the better, maybe not!
