Just because he did mimicry before does not mean he is a bad actor..

sorry bro, I just can't take him seriously. I just don't feel it. Plus, there's always his real self that comes into his performances. So, it never feels genuine enough for me. (just my personal opinion, that's all).

Well at least we can all agree to disagree.

(also want to add, of all the D movies mentioned here- I haven't seen Kammara Sambhavam. Need to watch it. So I'm judging without that movie in mind. But I've heard many good reviews on it)

Lol Dileep's strong phase was like 2000 to 2006. That's it. I mean that's his peak. He's stuck in certain image (boy next door). You can basically guess the formulaic structure of his movies ("stock theernu"). But still, he's better than Jayaram. Now that he's 50+, it will be hard to do that "boy next door" thing. Also, the recent controversy he's been in only damages his image.
Post 2006, the only decent films he did were the likes of Marykkundoru Kunjaadu and Two Countries. And Ramaleela was pretty decent too. (Should My Boss be counted? it's basically a rip-off of the The Proposal)

Even though things like Mayamohini were big commercial hits, the coming generation would only see it the same way we see commercial hits of Nazir from the 60s and 70s.

i am not talking about whether he is past his prime or not. dileep since 2002 is a superstar who's capable of pulling the crowd irrespective of the quality of the movie. since 2002 a mohanlal starrer doing good at the box office became rare and a surprise most of the time. on the otehr hand a dileep commercial movie ending up flop was rare. what i was trying to convey was with bandra, dileep too seems to to have lost the midas touch., the ability to hold the theatre crowd for first three days (a benchamrk for reigning supertars) is lost.
