Minnal Murai Review- "The first malayali superhero arrives"

A one time watchable pakka family entertainer.....

Takes a long time to setup and establish the village and the characters.

But that pays off big time because the strength of this movie is it's characters and this village setting.

Once the movie goes into the usual superhero template it gets boring towards the end due to it's predictability and length......

Still as an origin superhero movie it does a decent job entertaining and as the first malayali (nammude swantham) superhero this movie gets a thumbs up from me.

Expecting a tighter screenplay and better action from the sequel👍👍

More random thoughts this morning:

Best fight scene is the first one with police during sudheesh entry. There is a bit of style and flair to that fight along with humor.

Performance wise I would rate this as tovino's best (along with kaanekaane).. There is an innocent charm to Murali. Tovino delivers.

Somasundaram outshines everyone with his shibu role.. Character flashback and motivation is very fleshed out

VFX is rough but they can make it up in the sequel

Instead of cliche predictable climax Basil could have done something different...

We are so used to plethora of superhero movies. In order to standout from them a different approach is needed.

This is why first half of the film really works... This is a local superhero.

A small village, the villagers, their usual lives ,small humor, slow world building etc etc is not usually seen in a superhero movie.

Once this settles into the usual hero vs villain with superpowers in 2nd half it drags... We have seen this all somewhere.

Also felt that this much songs are not needed. Thee minnal song and maybe one flashback song for villain was enough.
