Fisherman's Review of CBI 5

Status: HF aayirickanam. Detail aayittonnum nokkiyilla.


Padathine kurichu nalla pedi undaayirunnu. Primarily because of outdate making style of K Madhu and no decent scripts seen from SN Swamy for past decade or so. Still CBI series is something all Malayalis still keep some expectation about.


To be frank making does not dissappoint at all. K Madhu has been able to pull off the movie with a decent making. Much much better than what we would expect. Then coming to the script by SN Swamy - Hats off to him for scripting such a decent purely investigation based thriller. It is an out and out pure investigation movie. Nothing else. And Swamy has made sure through his script that the viewer travels along with the investigation going on in the movie.


Actors Mam is good and excellent. But the character missed some typical Iyyer dialect dialogues, is what I felt. Like speaking Tamil to family over phone etc. Saikumar is excellent. Rocks several scenes. Jagathy's character, I had a fear that they would have just brought him for the sake of it. But it is a very crucial character which helps the investigation at a crucial point with a crucial lead. It was a goosebump scene. Then the scene of catching the killer is another goose bump scene. Another aspect which we feared about is the Lady officers in the investigation team. That also handled very neatly with very limited screen space for them.

Motive of the Killer is not very convincing which took away the WOW factor of the climax. That motive was a let down actually.


Overall Summary - A well made investigation movie which does justice to the CBI series but misses the WOW factor in the Climax. That is forgivable considering the fact that K Madhu and SN Swamy were able to pull of a decent investigation movie in this age of excellent thrillers. Go for it if you are a fan of CBI Series.
