My observations
Positives
1) We got an industry hit in 2018 which grossed 175 crores worldwide
2) Many unexpected films which dealt with sensitive subjects became a success at box office like Kaatha the core and Neru.
3) We got many new promising talented young directors like Nahas Hidyayath, Arun Varma and Roby Varghese
Negatives
1) Unexpected flop of King of Kotha. We missed a pan indian movie due to this
2) We missed festivals like Vishu, Easter and Eid due to poor planning by releasing sub standard less hyped OTT movies during that time. But it was compensated with Onam and X mas releases and festival successes of RDX and Neru. We missed Pooja festival too due to the release of Leo in all the theatres in Kerala
3) Not a single film of Prithviraj released during this year
2018 movie -Pride of Mollywood.

Notable things for me:
1. Tovino's Star value sky rocketed after 2018.
2. RDX was an eye opener in terms how action movies are made
3. Basil Joseph continues to impress
4. Dileep proved that he could still make hit out of an okay movie with VOS
5. Mammooty proved again how he he has this longevity with variety of roles
6. Neru proved again that Mohanlal could smash Box office records even with an above average movie
7. Udhaya Krishna hasn't made an effort to improve - Bandra is the latest example
Pandu 60-70 aayirunnu.. Pinne 100-150 aayi . Ippo 200
But 60-70 theere kuravanu. Oru 100 aanu paakam.

comparing to number of films released in the year and the number of successfull ratio from it comes to handful numbers, this is very poor. Most of the films which are made without any effort ruins all the good ones. It is very difficult to even keep remembr the names of the films released in the year also. In Wikipedia while I was searching for movies watched in 2023 theatres thread, I was seeing many names for the first time.
