Thank you very much
Theatre: PVR Lulu Audi 6, Showtime: 18th Feb 2024, 6.55 PM, Status: Housefull
I had booked the ticket for this show on 15th evening and still got sideways seat in the back. This was the movie I was really excited about in 2024 since I saw the first poster. I am fan of movies like Manichitrathathrazu, Akashaganga, Mayilpeelikkavu, Anathbhadram, Kerala Cafe (segment Mritinjayam) kind of movies having an ancestral home horror mystery genre. Before the show beings there was a disclaimer that the movie is shot in original format and will not fully fit the screen.
From the starting scene till the title card, I was immediately hooked into the world and didn't feel anything odd about B/W. Nothing to say about the legend Mammootty whose shadows is an intimidating presence. Arjun Ashokan and Siddharth Bharathan did a fanstastic job and has to be their career best performance. Art direction, sound design, cinematgoraphy, BGM as top notch.
Since I read and watched many reviews till going for the movie as it was all positive, I could notice small detailing like Siddharth's nails, Arjun's head bent, Mammuka's cough etc.
One thing I can tell is since the movie is in B/W and it is very apt. Had this be in color,
1) We wouldn't be as excited as this because there is no USP.
2) The gory scenes at the end would lead to A certificate.
After seeing such positive reports, I wish that the movie was released in later part of the year like Oct, Nov so that people tend to remember movies in the later half for awards purposes and also to send it as India's official entry to Oscars.
