I intepret it in two possible ways (either one or any other interpret possible)
1. With the power Ashokan again wanted similar to ikka (he had seen the power) & ikk's kadukkan is on the other side... So ashokan had made the chathan as his slave and try to get power dynamics of ikka...the mind of him reflected in the water.
2. Most straight forward - chathan took control of Ashokan and even chathan wants him to be on the upper side & he treats potti as better than Ashokan in all the angles, which is reflected in the kadukkan wearing.
Enthanu thee keduthumbol Chathan vulnerable aavunnathinte oru logic . Anything to do with any kind of ever glowing flame to do pooja for varahi
On re-watch, Mammootty's and Sidharth's dialogues in the first half make so much sense and depth.
After the grand feast, Chathan says "Maranam oru anugrahamaanu. Athu kazhinja ellaam avasanichu. " I think it signifies Chathan 's immortality. It can either live as a master or as a slave. But there is no death, no escape from the trap. It is also one reason why he gets very disturbed when Thevan talks about Moksham. There's no moksham for him and just the thought of someone thinking on those lines deeply unsettles him.
Similarly, when Arjun asks Sidharth's character to drink liquor to forget everything, Sidharth replies "Aa abadham njan kanikkilla" - Just shows the revenge burning inside.
