    Rajinikanth congratulates Prithviraj!!!

Prithviraj is a very happy man these days.

He won the state award for the best actor in Malayalam. He also has a series of films lined up in both Malayalam and Tamil. His most recent release in Tamil is 'Mozhi' with Jyotika as the heroine. The film also stars Prakashraj and Swarnamalya in important roles. Prithviraj also is all set to star in the Tamil version of 'Udayanaanu Thaaram'. 'Vellithira' is the name of the film.

"Rajinikanth saw my performance in 'Mozhi' and was so impressed that he called me up over the phone and congratulated me. He had watched the film a few days ago, along with his entire family. He also told me that I speak very good Tamil. I still am reeling under the pleasure of hearing those compliments from him," he said.

What are your new films in Malayalam?
I have one with director Shafi. As soon as I complete it, there also is 'Khaki'. 'Vellithirai' is the name of my new film in Tamil. Prakashraj was initially planning to direct the film but he has changed his mind now.

    S.J Suryah-Image crisis!

    By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 27 March , 2007, 07:59

S.J Suryah cannot escape the image that he has built over the years through films like New. It is both his strength as well as his weakness at the box-office. The audiences who come to watch his films want a certain amount of sleaze and titillation, which is not approved by the family audience and the censors.
Now this Friday his Vyapari is due for release, provided it gets through the censors! S.J Suryah is actually facing a big crisis on the career front. His recent films have not done well at the box-office, and he has also realized that it is difficult to shake off his Casanova image.

Suryah tried his best to change his image through Thirumahan but failed. In fact the highlight of this family film was the on-screen chemistry between Suryah and Meera Jasmine! In the process the film fell, as neither his fans nor the family audience patronized the film.

Now take a look at Vyapari. He has paired up with glamorous heroines like Namitha, Malavika, and Tamanna. The posters and photo cards have been designed keeping the adult audience in mind and Suryah even sings a song in the film! All this is enough for the film to have sold like a hot cake among distributors.

Vyapari may take a fantastic opening. It is the 'make or break' film for S.J Suryah, much hinges on the success of this film for the director turned actor.

    India's loss, Kollywood's gain!

    By Moviebuzz | Saturday, 24 March , 2007, 11:24

After India's shameful exit from the World cup, are fans going to give up watching the rest of the cricket carnival? Everyone is disgusted with our cricket team's performance and being eliminated from the tournament, even before the super eight stage started.
On Monday when India played Bermuda, a crucial match the theatre attendance in Chennai city was 35 percent! But on Friday, for the all important clash between India and Sri Lanka, movie attendance in five city complexes for the evening and night show averaged a miserable 15 percent! Such are the interest levels for the game in Chennai. The city has traditionally been cricket crazy and the excitement levels are high even though there is no player from Tamil Nadu is there in the current playing eleven.

Now analysts are predicting that the cricket craze will turn into cynicism, rage and hatred for those who once were the idols of millions. The amount of pent up anger is evident from the hate mail scrawled on television news channels, by heart broken fans. The very same fans who once used to worship Sachin Tendulkar and other demigod's of our cricket team are now shouting and saying-"Off with their heads".

Well cricket is a funny game, as the two favorite teams for us in Chennai- India and Pakistan are packing their bags to go back home from West Indies! This has caught the cinema trade in Tamil Nadu by surprise as they were enjoying a holiday mood thinking that the World Cup interest will last until the end of April. Now they will have to rethink their strategy and take advantage by releasing new movies.

Yes the big summer season has come back to life ! At least two new Tamil releases will hit the screen every week from March 30 to May 29, ten weekends in a row! The entertainment starved audience are sure to lap it up now ,irrespective now of who wins the cricket World Cup!

    Laila gets baby boy!!

Laila fell in love with Mehdi, married him and settled down in Mumbai. Now she has become a mother.

Laila was very clear when she said she would return to acting after marriage, but that would be only after enjoying domestic life. She would also do only heroine roles. Strangely, no one can visualize Laila as a heroine after she got married.

Yesterday, Laila gave birth to a baby boy at a private hospital. Both mother and child are doing fine. Now that she has become a mother, Laila will not be hastening towards film offers for some time.

The fans of this smiling beauty will surely miss her!

    'Sivaji' – distributors not satisfied!

From producers to the stall boy selling popcorn in theaters, the actor they most depend on to make money is Rajini. Now there's some gossip going around that distributors are not interested in buying Rajini's film.

    Yuvan Shankar Raja's Bangkok craze

If Yuvan Shankar Raja has accepted a new film, a ticket is booked for him immediately for Bangkok.

For almost every film, Yuvan goes to Bangkok to do his music composing. If it is a Simbu film, it is definite that the two of them definitely fly to Bangkok together. That's exactly what happened for composing music for Simbu's new film 'Kettavan.' They thought they would at least get two songs composed, but as luck would have it, 5 songs were composed.

Yuvan is planning to release a solo album. Work for that is going on at Bangkok only. His favorite place in Bangkok is JW Marriott. That's where he stays every time he goes to Bangkok. However the last time he and Simbu went to Bangkok, the Marriott was full, so they had no option but to stay at another hotel.

No one is sure exactly what it is in Bangkok that is so inspiring to Yuvan and Simbu. Whatever it may be, all songs composed there by Yuvan have been sure fire hits!
