Why 'Sivaji' release is delayed – latest secrets unveiled!


It's about a year since 'Sivaji' film has been making news, yet the date of its release seems to be giving a lot of confusion.

It features the superstar, a big director and producer and the fans are eagerly waiting to feast their eyes on their idol. The inauguration was simple but the budget and production value is grand beyond imagination. All this gave rise to umpteen rumours and speculation.

But the release date of 'Sivaji' seems to be an unsolved puzzle. Originally slated for a Tamil New Year release, the date was then postponed to April 17, but now even that seems uncertain.

We did a little bit of investigating why there is this unforeseen delay. It seems all the technical work is complete except for one feature called DI. This technical work will take about 20 to 30 days, so the film could be released around the 8th of next month.

Though all the rights for the film has been sold out, it looks like only the Tamilnadu rights for distribution has not been given to anyone. It is said AVM would like to personally release 'Sivaji' in the 300 theatres in Tamilnadu. This dialogue by Rajini that goes like this, "Whatever be the case, when I will come and how I will come is something even I do not know, but I will be there at the right time," seems apt for 'Sivaji.'

'Kireetam' release this month?

May 1 is Ajith's birthday. During his busy days, his films used to get released on May 1 and his fans would go to town, celebrating his birthday as well as his film release.

When the ultimate star got more interested in car races than films, these celebrations slowly dwindled and there was no film of his either to be released on May 1. Then Ajith slimmed down, got busy in films and the enthusiastic celebrations by fans resurfaced again.

But fans, who expected that Ajith's 'Kireetam' would get released on May 1, are in for a surprise. Kodambakkam sources say the film could get released on April 27 itself!

The Tamil 'Kireetam' is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same title. It got Mohanlal a national award. The film is about family relationships, especially between father and son, and also about social awareness. There is fervent hope that the film would definitely run at least for 100 days.

Since the shooting is over, the film is expected to be released on April 27, but why not make the release date May 1? What's the hurry? May 1 is a Tuesday and not very auspicious. So the Kodambakkam astrologers have advised an April 27 release!

200 beauties in a song!

200 beauties? Just reading about it will make one's head spin, so you can imagine how it was for us to see this in person!

It is not new to have Telugu film shooting in Chennai. After AR Murugadoss and Selvaraghavan moved into the Telugu film field, they have shot many scenes for the films they direct in singara Chennai.

'Aadavari Matalukke Artham Verule' has been shot mostly in Chenani by Selvaraghavan, including a song sequence. A song was shot in Chennai's Prasad Studios and a hoard of beauties was brought in for it. There were so many that we lost count, so we finally asked the production guy. Imagine our surprise when he said 200! And none had crossed 20 years of age.

Lucky Andhra people to feast their eyes on so many beauties, we thought. A unit member close by consoled us saying that we could do the same in the Tamil version of the film! The Tamil version titled 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' features Dhanush and Nayantara and is directed by Jawahar. It will feature the song with 200 beauties!

Arjun jumps from 10th floor for 'Marudhamalai'

"After 10 years, I'm happy with my work in 'Marudhamalai' says Arjun with the happiness of having had a satisfactory meal.

Having been assistant to Sundar C, Swaraj directs this film after 'Thalainagaram.' One can guess at the grandeur of the film as it is being produced by Oscar Ravichandran.

The story takes place in the southern districts and Arjun has the role of a police inspector. His 2 heroines are Nila and Tamanna. Hima Khan, who was heroine of the Telugu 'Pokkiri,' has done a dance number in this. Lal plays the villain role.

Since the hero is a cop, would this be a serious film?

"No, not at all. Vadivelu will have you in splits with his comedy. The Arjun-Vadivelu combination has worked out well. The first half is comedy, the second half has action and the film is spice dup here and there with glamour. It is a masala mix that will go down well with the viewers," says the director.

This is the most expensive of Arjun's films. The song featuring Arjun-Vadivelu and Hima Khan has been shot in a market set put up at the Binny Mills in north Chennai.
