Studio Green to remake Mankatha in Hindi

Studio Green, owned by Gnanavel Raja (Siruthai, Singam and Naan Mahaan Alla fame), has bagged the Hindi remake rights of Ajith's smash hit Mankatha, directed by Venkat Prabhu. However the cast and crew are yet to be finalized and an official announcement is expected to be made on November 15.
Mankatha had Ajith, Trisha, Arjun, Anjali, Andreah, Premji, Vaibhav, Mahanth, Ashwin, Lakshmi Rai and Jayaprakash in prominent roles. The film was produced by Cloud Nine Movies and released under the Sun Pictures banner.

Manorama’s surgery successful

Tamil comedienne Manorama underwent a successful surgery for removal of a bloodclot on her head at Apollo hospital in Chennai on Tuesday (November 1).
She is said to have regained ‘consciousness’, though she is still on life support system.
Manorama’s son Bhoopathy said after the operation: “ Her vital parameters are normal, but she is still on ventilator support due to lung congestion.”
The family and hospital authorities have requested the film industry people to avoid meeting the actor. Those who visited her on the day she was admitted include Kamal Haasan, Anushka and Senthil.

Gautham Menon buys Tintin TN rights

Gautham Vasudeva Menon is one of the few Tamil directors who is cued to Hollywood films.

He has brought Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s The Adventures of Tintin- The Secret of the Unicorn Tamil Nadu theatrical rights.

Gautham’s Photon Kathas and Escape Artists Motion Pictures will distribute Tintin releasing on November 11 for Tamil Nadu territory.

Steven Spielberg directed Tintin in 3D is one of the most eagerly awaited films in the world.

Tintin has already opened last Friday (Oct 2 in UK and Europe and has stormed the UK box-office in the number one position. A full two months ahead of its US opening Tintin will become the first Hollywood film to release in India before its American opening.

Gautham Menon speaking exclusively to sify.com explained: “Like everybody in my generation, I was hooked to Tintin series of classic comic books. I’ve always been fascinated by Tintin the courageous hero and wanted to see a movie made on him. And when The Adventures of Tintin is directed by Steven Spileberg world best director, it is double whammy. With all these reasons why wouldn’t I buy the right of the film? ”

Dhanush-Genelia: The hit pair is back?

Uthamaputhiran, Dhanush is all set to team up with Genelia again. After the success of Aadukalam, Dhanush has become the most bankable star in Kollywood today. Now the actor is likely to team up with director Chimbudevan, who has given us the entertainers Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi and Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam. Genelia is likely to be the heroine.
Chimbudevan is known for his fantasy-comedies and we hope that the duo will soon create magic at the BO.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is a fun filled love story: Sathya

Arya’s brother Sathya (Shahir) is all set to make his debut as hero in Kadhal 2 Kalyanam opposite Divya Spandana, who has become extremely popular after acting with Suriya in Vaaranam Aayiram. Both Arya and Sathya went through loads of scripts before selecting the script for Kadhal 2 Kalyanam. Shahir is highly inspired by his brother Arya and would love to plan his acting career like him. He would also like to try various facets of acting just like his brother. Satya’s first film Kadhal 2 Kalyanam, a jaunty love story, should serve as a perfect launchpad. Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is directed by Milind Rau, one of Mani Ratnam’s assistants. Yuvanshankar Raja has composed music for the film.
In an exclusive interview to Galatta.Com, Sathya has revealed that the film is fun filled love story which will attract everyone. "It’s a fun film. It’s basically a love story. He comes from a broken family as in his parents are divorced. She comes from a traditional close-knit extended Hindu family as in she has so many aunts and uncles and cousins. So when these two people fall in love, it also means the coming together of these two very different families. How they react to each other, how differently they respond to the same situations... it’s a very urban tale, told in a very fun way. It’s also a take on how today’s society views the concept of ‘love marriage’," Sathya revealed to Galatta.com.

Ace director Mani Ratnam will reportedly start his next project in the first week of October. With this film Mani Ratnam is back to his favourite forte: romantic musicals. According to sources, Mani Ratnam's next will be an intense love story based on the sensitive issue of plight of Rameshwaram fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan Navy. The film will have actor Karthik's son Gautham in the lead role; the leading lady is yet to be finalized; Kamal Haasan's younger daughter Akshara, Parthiban's daughter Keerthana and Radha's second daughter Thulasi are being considered for the roles.
Veteran cinematographer Rajeev Menon and music director A.R. Rahman will reportedly be a part of this project. It sure looks like the ace director is all set to recapture the magic of Roja, Mouna Raagam and Alaipayuthey again on screen.

According to sources, Mani Ratnam's next will be an intense love story based on the sensitive issue of plight of Rameshwaram fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan Navy. The film will have actor Karthik's son Gautham in the lead role. It is heard that recently the director called Tollywood sensation Samantha for a screen test at his office in Chennai. However she failed to impress the ace director and was eventually rejected. The director is still looking for a suitable actress for his film.

Sun Pictures to bag Rajapattai rights?

Recently we have reported that the producers has spend almost Rs. 3 crore on the climax fight sequence of Vikram's much awaited Rajapattai. The shooting of the film is almost complete except for two songs, which is likely to be shot in Europe. Now the latest buzz is that Kollywood's prominent production house Sun Pictures is likely to bag the release rights of the film.
In Rajapattai, Vikram plays the role of a gym instructor who comes to the city with a dream of becoming a big villain in Tamil films. Rajapattai is directed by Suseendran and sexy siren Deeksha Seth is the heroine. Touted to be a complete mass entertainer, Vikram will appear in several interesting get ups for a song in the film. Rajapattai is PVP Cinemas' maiden production venture and according to the team, the film will impress all classes of audience. The film will also narrate the relationship between a grandfather (played by veteran actor K. Viswanath) and his grandson. The romance and comedy track are expected to be the main highlight of this film.

Vamsam to be remade in Telugu?

CM Karunanidhi’s grandson Arulnidhi's debut movie Vamsam, produced by his father M.K. Thamizharasu and directed by Pasanga Pandiraj, is likely to be remade in Telugu soon. Sunaina plays the female lead. The film is about two towns, Pulivathanam and Singampidari, strongholds of the Devar community, and a 15 day temple festival (Thiruvizha) which is the focal point of all throughout the year.
Arulnidhi is currently busy with his next film Mouna Guru, directed by debutant Shanthakumar. The film is produced by his father Tamilarasu under their home banner Mohana Movies.The actor has just wrapped up the shooting and dubbing has commenced. Mouna Guru is likely to grace theatres in November.
