London based industrialist to fund 'Marudhanayagam'?
In a recent question answer session for a popular magazine, Kamal has said that his dream project Marudhanayagam will be revived soon.
Ironically, Kamal’s guru late K Balachander has asked the question ‘For how many days you are going keep me awaited to see Marudhanayagam?’…
Kamal replied “May be this might have happened when you wrote the question. A big industrialist friend from London called me and said “I would like to produce your Marudhanayagam”… “I told him that it will cost much”…” I don’t mind about the expenditure… the film will bear any cost and me too” said my friend”.
Kamal concluded by saying the wish you (K Balachander) wanted to happen on behalf of Tamil cinema fans will see it day.
Marudhanayagam is a period war film based on India’s first freedom fighter Muhammed Yusuf Khan whose original name is Marudhanayagam Pillai.
Kamal started Marudhanayagam on 1997 and the film’s inauguration function was attended by Queen Elizabeth II, later Kamal dropped the project for financial reasons.
One more surprise entry in Pongal race
Jan 02, 2015
The announcement of Yennai Arindhaal’s release on 29th January has brought in a lot of changes in the release plans of other films that are completed and ready to hit the marquee.
I which was supposed to be out on the 9th January appears to be pushed to the Pongal weekend. And now reliable sources aver that G V Prakash’s horror thriller Darling is slated to be a Pongal release too.
Darling directed by Sam Anton and produced by Allu Arvind and Gnanavel Raja has Nikki Galrani as the female lead which will also mark G V Prakash’s first film in front of the camera to hit the screens.
As of now the films that are in Pongal race are I, Aambala and Darling. With more than a week to go for the Pongal festivities, there could also be some more changes. Stay tuned!
