Rajnikanth signed for ‘Robot’ IndiaGlitz [Friday, January 11, 2008]
Kollywood's super director Shankar has signed on Rajnikanth once again, for his next project titled ‘Robot’. The duo who has been enjoying the success of their sweet success of their recent Magnum opus ‘Sivaji' for quite some time, will now go on for a bigger film that this which will get to theatres by the next year.
Shankar has been working around on the casting of this film for years which started years ago. One of the first to be considered was Kamal Haasan. Then Shankar went for Shahrukh Khan, who had always expressed a desire to work with Shankar.
The actor who initially agreed to give bulk dates backed up, after realizing the budget and the time that he may need to realize the flick. Then its was the turn of discussions with Aamir Khan which also went stale. And finally, Shankar reverted to the casting of Rajnikanth, which will also help him to sell the film instantly at astronomical amounts even before the first shot is shooting.
And now the director has started his work on budgeting. The film, which will tell the robotic avatar of a common man, will be shot with the best Hollywood technicians in visual and added effects. This film may also may prove to be the expensive ever made in India, amounting to around 100 crore mark .The star director has also roped in his favorite A R Rahman to do the music for the film.
Initial plans suggest that ‘Robot' will be a multilingual shot simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Shankar has plans to work it even in Malayalam.
