Foreign bombshells bombard Bollywood!
BUSINESSOFCINEMA.COM TEAM 27 APRIL , 2012
MUMBAI: Bollywood seems obsessed with foreign bombshells! And why not? One after the other, the international beauties seem to keep making a mark. So the list is growing.
Arab Brazilian model Bruna Abdullah generated quite a buzz with I Hate Love Storys alongside Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor, while Welsh model Lisa Lazarus impressed with Salman Khan in Veer. Swedish-Iranian model and dancer Maryam Zakaria got a chance to shake a leg with Kareena Kapoor in Agent Vinod; that too for a mujra number.
Half-Sri Lankan half-Malaysian beauty Jacqueline Fernandez has been managing to bag quite a few movies like Housefull, Murder 2, Housefull 2 and even Aladin; co-starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Half-Czech half-Pakistani American fashion model and actress Nargis Fakhri became a sensation of sorts opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar, while South African Playboy model Candice Boucher romanced a 'gutka tycoon' Sachiin Joshi in box office disaster Aazaan.
Not to forget the Uruguayan-Mexican actress and model Barbara Mori who starred opposite Hrithik Roshan in Kites.
That’s not all!
There has been another Brazilian model Giselle Monteiro in Love Aaj Kal, Canadian model Mia Uyeda in Blood Money, British-born Amy Jackson in Ekk Deewana Tha, Irish-born British granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, Kiera Chaplin in Chaurahen, Russian model Era Tsariova in Cigarette Ki Tarah and Indian Brazilian model Nathalia Kaur in Department.
And as if so many foreign beauties weren’t enough, the latest to join the firang-babes bandwagon is the stunningly beautiful half-German half-Indian international model Evelyn Sharma, who has managed to bag more than three movies even before her first release.
Her line-up includes Manish Tiwary's Issaq opposite Prateik Babbar, veteran filmmaker Pramod Chakravorty's grandson Prateek Chakravorty’s debut film From Sydney With Love, and a pivotal role in Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani; the Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone starrer under Karan Johar's banner Dharma Productions.
A surprising fact is that the girl has already completed over a hundred assignments in India in the last few months, since migrating here. Plus, inspite of her half-foreign origins, she dubs in Hindi for herself.

Dolly Alhuwalia happy that drinking scene in 'Vicky Donor' accepted by audiences
BUSINESSOFCINEMA.COM TEAM 28 APRIL , 2012
MUMBAI: In 'Vicky Donor', which has been getting great reviews, one of the most popular scenes is that of the mother in law sharing a drink with her on screen daughter in law - played by Dolly Alhuwalia.
Kamlesh Gill played the harried, drinking mother in law with finesse. Dolly, who is in fact Indian cinema's leading costume designers, admits there were apprehensions about whether the saas-bahu drinking sessions would go down well with the audience.
"We wanted to show how a bickering saas-bahu can actually be like a mother and daughter after a few pegs," said Dolly to the media.
Ahluwalia, a gold medalist in acting from the National School of Drama, was in Sri Lanka working on the costumes of Deepa Mehta’s film, when she got a call from director Shoojit Sircar about the role in "Vicky Donor".
"He said I was the first actor he was casting for the film. Even the film’s writer Juhi Chaturvedi said the same thing. I was elated. When I read the script I was over the moon. What an opportunity for me as an actor! More than myself, I’m so happy for my director Shoojit Sircar. He has waited so long for this to happen to his career,” she said.
Currently Ahluwalia is working on Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor’s costumes for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag".
Bollywood is full of politics: Sameera Reddy
MUMBAI: Sameera Reddy cameback to Bollywood with Priyadarshan's 'Tezz', however now, feels she was better off doing South films.
"When you are a queen in your own country, why would you want to go anywhere else?" said the actress to the media.
In Priyadarshan's 'Tezz', Sameera plays the antagonist who is chased by cop Anil Kapoor.
"I have done the most difficult scene any girl has ever done on screen. It is a very important bike scene. I had to go through intensive training before pulling it off because we couldn't cheat the audience by using a body double here," she explained.
"In one scene, I'm being chased by cops and have to jump into a river. I remember the temperature was two degrees and we were freezing like ice cubes. I had to get in the river with two huge bags, go underwater for like 20 seconds, and dive away from there," she added.
Vijay will shake leg with Akshay Kumar in Rowdi Rathore.
