"I didn't meet Ranbir on my birthday nor was I partying" - Katrina Kaif
By Subhash K. Jha, July 18, 2011 - 09:08 IST
Katrina who quietly turned a year older on Saturday is very annoyed with reports that she met Ranbir Kapoor at a multiplex on the eve of her birthday.
"I read that Ranbir was in the same multiplex where I was promoting my film. I had no clue about this. And I certainly didn't meet him," says Katrina indignantly.
It was meant to be her first birthday party since the fiasco that happened at her birthday bash in 2008 when Salman Khan had an open fight with Shah Rukh Khan. Swearing off all birthday parties thereafter, Katrina had finally mustered enough courage to plan a party for all her friends this year, only to have it struck down by the ghastly tragedy that shook Mumbai.
Says a source, "She was promoting her new film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with the cast and crew on Friday until midnight when everyone decided it was time to bring in her birthday. Katrina refused, arguing that any kind of celebration at this time would be odd. Someone pointed out to her that it was a very private get-together and not a party. But Katrina refused outright arguing that it wasn't about right or wrong but about not feeling up to it. She did put an appearance at Shah Rukh's home since Shah Rukh had thrown the part for the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara team... it'd have looked odd if she went missing."
Says Katrina, "Nope. No celebrations for me. I guess it's not meant to be. No party for my birthdays. I was with my Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara team on Friday night. We did nothing to bring in my birthday. My friends Arjun Kapoor, Kabir Khan etc. had a quiet dinner at a Chinese restaurant. In any case, I don't believe in bringing in birthdays. My birthday was on Saturday. I spent it quietly with my mother. And I did not meet Ranbir or Salman on Friday night."
Is turning 28 traumatic?
Karina ponders over that one. "It could be, if there's no love in your life. The best birthday gift I can hope for? To find love this year, and for my films to do well. And also to keep Mumbai free of attacks. We can't ever begin to feel normal and do normal things like celebrate birthdays or even go out with friends if we have the fear of violence hanging on our heads all the time."
So just loads of birthday greetings for Katrina this year.

How John Abraham got the perfect body
Hindustan Times
That John Abraham has one of the best bodies in Bollywood is a fact that is well known. But the people associated with his upcoming action movie Force were more than surprised to see that his body is completely natural and the result of a lot of hard work. So much so that the bulky actor’s body has not even been airbrushed in the film’s poster.
John has been working out from a very young age and can easily get his body to adapt to either bulk up or become lean. All he has to do is simply change his diet.
To bulk up, he starts having his protein shakes and increases his food intake. Plus he changes his workout routine.
It is these very simple tips that John employed to get his Force body. And now when he wants to become lean again, he's changing his workout sessions and is changing his diet and focusing on reducing carbs.
A friend close to him says, "I'm amused how people have forgotten that this is the actual John. Whenever John needs to bulk up, he does it the natural way. He can train himself to bulk up or become lean by cutting down the fat."

Vidya smokes 10 cigarettes for Dirty Picture
Vidya Balan redefines 'smoking hot' in her own special way. The 33-year-old actor had to smoke up to ten cigarettes for a scene in her upcoming film Dirty Picture. In the film, Vidya plays a popular actress who lives a tragic life and dies a lonely death. "While shooting in Hyderabad, Vidya had to actually smoke for a scene. By the fourth cigarette, Vidya, a non-smoker, began to feel uneasy and was overcome with a coughing fit," reports Mumbai Mirror. The shooting had to be stopped for Vidya to regain her composure.
After Vidya was back on set, director Milan Luthria gave the go-ahead to resume shooting.
As luck would have it, and after multiple re-takes, Vidya was ten cigarettes down.
Dirty Picture is based on the life of South sex-icon, Silk Smitha. Smitha was a popular item girl and sex symbol, who enthralled millions. The actor was found dead in her Chennai apartment in 1996.
Vidya is clearly a dedicated actor. She is reportedly experimenting with her look in the film. She is also making some changes on the personal front to convincingly pull off this character.
Milan insisted on non-smoker Vidya actually smoking for the film to keep things real. And professional Vidya stepped up without complaints.
