Aamir, Salman, Shah Rukh mum on Lokpal issue?
Their opinions count, but the Khans of Bollywood - Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan - are playing it safe when it comes to highly sensitve Lokpal issue, the hot topic these days.
Aamir Khan, who tried to take a stand on the Narmada Bachao Andolan a long time ago, got himself into a political mess. It's possible that these lessons from the past have made Aamir Khan distance himself from highly political and sensitive issues. It looks as though the actor, who is all over the place when his films are at the brink of release, prefers to remain in his secure zone when he doesn't have much to talk about.
Salman Khan, who is known to propagate the 'Being Human' mantra has also not commented his stand on the Lokpal and Janlokpal bill. He is only too happy and busy with his next release 'Bodyguard', and most likely will be available to the media once the Anna Hazare furore dies down. Call it a strategic movie if you may!
Many film personalities and trade analysts are of the opinion: "To each his own... Aamir spoke up the last time, and his film was banned in certain sections of the country. Shah Rukh Khan has experienced brickbats when some statements were made and had to face dire consequences. If actors don't wish to take a stand or give an opinion, it's perfectly understandable for every word they utter will be thoroughly weighed."
Shah Rukh Khan, on the other hand, did say that like everybody else, he too wished for a corruption-free India, but SRK also stated that he didn't know much about legal procedures and the judicial system and thus was inept to give a thorough point of view on the issue!
Agent Vinod, Ladies V/S Ricky Bahl, Players to release on same day
By Taran Adarsh, August 23, 2011 - 09:10 IST
Friday, 9 December has got overcrowded. Initially, Saif Ali Khan's home-production AGENT VINOD and Yash Raj's LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL were confirmed for this date, but with Viacom18 deciding to bring PLAYERS on this date, everyone's wondering if this move by Viacom18 has anything to do with the gupshup that AGENT VINOD is likely to be shifted to next year. 2012? Yes, that's the rumor doing the rounds about AGENT VINOD.
But there's no truth to it. In fact, Eros, the partners in AGENT VINOD, maintain that the release date [9 Dec] is locked and there's no possibility of a postponement. Which means, the Friday in question will witness the three films battling it out for not just screen space, but also footfalls at cineplexes. However, the question is, is it a wise decision to have three talked-about films releasing on the same day?
Ek Main Aur Ekk TuFirst Look - Imran & Kareena
Release DateComing Valentine!
StarringImran Khan & Kareena Kapoor
Directed ByShakun Batra
A lot, apparently. Karan Johar changes the title of his Imran-Kareena starrer Short Term Shaadi to Ek Main Air Ekk Tu
Meena Iyer
It’s official. Karan Johar and UTV Motion Pictures’ Short Term Shaadi, starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan, is now Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.
Says Karan, “Short Term Shaadi was just a working title that attached itself to this film through the making. Neither Shakun Batra (who makes his directorial debut here) nor I were happy with it from the start, so we went title hunting. Just recently, we settled on Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, but there was a process attached to getting it, hence the delayed announcement.’’
KJo adds that the new title fits this romcom perfectly well. He says, “Short Term Shaadi wasn’t giving the right vibe. This story is about the conversational chemistry between these two very beautiful people — Imran and Kareena. EMAET is a witty, feel-good, slice-of-life comedy and it conveys the energies of this couple.’’
Revealing a secret, Karan says, “Imran is a self-confessed Kareena fan. When I saw these two together in one frame at the photo shoot, I realised that they were a smashing couple. Casting them together was a wise decision. It is amazing that Kareena is romancing Aamir in one film and then his nephew Imran in another. Getting Bebo and Imran together is a coup of sorts.’’
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu will release on February 10 and KJo recommends it as the perfect Valentine’s Day flick. Says he, “You can watch it with your friend or with your date.’’
He also feels that this could well be Dharma Productions’ hat-trick in the romcom genre; the earlier two being Wake Up Sid and I Hate Luv Storys.
“Shakun and Imran are close friends. And this film also shows their comfort level as an actor-director team,’’ he says, adding, “Kareena hasn’t done a romcom in a while; Imran has made a perfect place for himself in this genre. As I said earlier, this film has captured the conversational chemistry of these two perfectly. And though Imran has acted with several other leading ladies, the USP of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is seeing Bebo and him together for the first time.”

Shirish wrote, “Joker was the first Indian stereoscopic 3D film to be announced. Bad news. Everyone else seems to be releasing before us. Good news. They would have set up the entire infrastructure for our release.” Earlier this year, Shah Rukh had announced that he was bringing out Ra.One too in 3D too.
