Samantha’s trilingual takes her to Bollywood

... but the actor plays it down and is all praise for director Gautham Vasudev Menon

While Sonam Kapoor is still unsure about making a a film debut in the south, there is one actor down south who isn’t keen on moving to Bollywood yet. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who has replaced Sonam Kapoor in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Tamil flick, claims that she is happy doing films down south. She says, “I am not too keen on making a Bollywood debut so soon. In fact, it is not priority. Right now I am happy here as I love the roles that are being written for me. Moreover, I am a south Indian, born and brought up in Chennai.”
But despite her claim, Samantha’s film with her mentor Gautham Vasudev Menon is a trilingual, which in a way will mark her entry into B-town. The film, which is a love story, has Samantha paired opposite Aditya Roy Kapur. “The film has us transition from ages 15-25,” says Samantha, adding that she is not really looking at the film as her launch into B-town. “Gautham sir offered the role to me, and as he was making it in three languages, he wanted the same heroine in Hindi as well. I agreed to do it. I value his judgement and what he says holds good for me. He is my mentor,” she says.
Rumour has it that Samantha was the original choice for Ekk Deewana Tha. Is she relieved that she didn’t do it, given that it bombed at the BO? “Why should I be? I was never offered Ekk Deewana Tha,” she asserts.
And though she is excited about doing a film with Mani Ratnam, the actor remains tight-lipped about the project. “It is strictly confidential and I can't reveal anything about it right now,” says Samantha.
The year ahead is crammed with work schedules for the actor. “It’s going to be a busy year ahead as I will probably have eight releases. I have put in a lot of hard work,” she says. So how does she feel about being one of the most sought after actors in the south and Samantha says, “I believe that every Friday our fate changes at the box office, so I really don't put much thought to this and I don’t care about tags.”

100 crore club grows bigger with 'Housefull 2'

In its third weekend at box office, the film, starring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles, added another Rs. 9 crore approximately to its kitty and crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark, much to the jubilation of the producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

Meanwhile, among the latest releases, Vicky Donor has stolen the march over Hate Story with a collection of Rs. 7.5 crore in the opening week. Hate Story, introducing the bongshell Paoli Dam to Bollywood, could only make Rs. 7 crore. While Vicky Donor did well at multiplexes, Hate Story attracted footfalls at B centres.

Meanwhile, talking about the 100 crore club, Housefull 2 is the first film featuring either Akshay Kumar or John Abraham to enter the club. The club came into being in 2008 when Ghajini by Aamir Khan crossed the mark untouched by any Hindi film.

Since then 10 more films have made it to the club, but it is the Khans who have dominated this elite bunch.

Salman or Aamir for Shankar's next



B-town mighty Khans - the box office supreme Salman Khan and the cine lovers delight Aamir Khan are in fray for probably Indian cinema's biggest extravaganza to be shot exclusively in China...

Yes indiaglitz highly placed sources reveal that the super hit south Indian filmmaker Shankar who made Nayak starring Anil Kapoor and Robot starring the superstar Rajnikanth is ready with the idea of his next mega bollywood venture..

Shankar is approaching Salman and Aamir for this project simultaneously and a close hand reveals that h e is likely to meet Aamir first this week and later in the month Salman will hear the idea..

It is learnt that Shankar didn,t want to take chances this time, it should be recalled that Shankar approached SRK first for Robot but things didn,t work out and his dream to work with a Bollywood superstar crashed..

Now the maker has learnt from his past mistakes and is approaching both the extremely dependable Khans Salman nad Aamir for his next in Hindi..

Well Salman and Aamir will hear the idea by the end of this month.. a question pops up in many minds.. Suppose both of them agree in principal to do the movie then what will Shankar do..

On this question a reliable close hand close to the unit says that in that case the economy and the keenness of interest will decide who will be the 'Nayak' of Shankar's next mega Hindi project.. Salman or Aamir..

| Filmfare Trophy for Vicky |

Salim Khan, who wrote scripts for many blockbuster movies including Sholay and Don, presented his own Filmfare trophy to Vicky Donor's director Shoojit Sircar.

Salim Khan loved Vicky Donor so much that he called Shoojit Sircar at his residence and gifted him a Filmfare trophy.

Shoojit shared his experience in a recent interview to a leading website. Shoojit Sircar said, "Saying that I am overwhelmed doesn't quite explain my emotions. When I first got the call, I couldn't understand that it was the great Salim saab calling me up. He introduced himself as the writer of "Sholay" and called me and my scriptwriter, Juhi Chaturvedi, over to his residence for tea."

Shoojit added, “Salim Khan said I saw your film Vicky Donor with 10 women in my house and we all loved it. I don't know how you made this film. I even spoke to your scriptwriter. Both of you have done a commendable job so I want to give you an award from my side. At his residence, he handed over a Filmfare trophy to us saying that he has loved our work so much that he wanted to gift it as an acknowledgment of his appreciation."

Bollywood composers Anand and Milind back after 6 years!

It was way back in 2006, that we last heard of Anand and Milind, the Bollywood music composers who had disappeared from the scene after their release that year, ‘We R Friends’. They are now back with a new film ‘Yeh Khula Aasmaan’ which they hope would be well appreciated by music lovers in the country.
They have composed music for over 200 Bollywood films and are the sons of 60s music director, Chitragupta. Anand-Milind debuted in Ab Aayega Mazaa (1984) and rose to fame after the success of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (198. There are any number of albums that come to mind when you think of the composers, like ‘Dil’, ‘Beta’, ‘Baaghi’, ‘Love’, ‘Anjaam’, ‘Suhaag’, ‘Madhosh’, ‘Sangeet’, ‘Prem Quaidi’, ‘Lootere’, ‘Ajay’, ‘Anadi’, ‘Hero No.1′ and ‘Raja Babu’.
