SalmanKhan deals with Mandhana Industries for designing, marketing and distributing Being Human products; First store will be opened early next year…!



MUMBAI: After the launch of the Being Human foundation some months back, Salman Khan has entered into an exclusive license agreement with Mandhana Industries for designing, marketing and distributing Being Human clothing products.
The company shall have exclusive rights to promote and use the Being Human brand name worldwide for its clothing products for the next 9 years and 3 months. Actor Salman Khan will be the brand ambassador.
Talking about the partnership Mr. Manish Mandhana, JMD, Mandhana Industries told ET, “The investing amount will be very low as compared to other retail apparel brand since Salman Khan has already set in motion the brand awareness and shall be promoting it under a license agreement,” he said.
The company is investing Rs 70 crore to set up 3-4 exclusive outlets in India and will also set up shops in Switzerland, Germany, UK, Spain and Middle East. The first store will be opened early next year by January end or February first week.
Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai have been chosen as the places for the initial store launch and there are plans to set up 20 stores across country by end of 2012. Besides exclusive stores, Being Human clothing will also be available in MBOs, online stores and through other distributors for maximum penetration.
The company is still scouting for a creative agency, but plans to roll out a promotional campaign featuring Salman Khan to support the launch around January. Mandhana is extremely bullish about this partnership: “we estimate a gestation period of one-and-half year and the payback would be at end of four years with the turnover touching around Rs 250 crores,” he forecasts.
