I dont understand why all the blame is put on Maradona for Argentina's poor performances..

I would suggest you look at Argentina's position when he took over the reins. He wasn't given a high-flying Argetnia team and it wasn't he who is responsible for Messi's string of poor performances. If you really want to understand how important it is to have a good time to really make up a winning combination, study the time when Dunga took over Brazil and the struggles he went to through to construct the team that is today.

And importantly, do not judge a team on history. Evaluate it on merit. Like it or not, Argentina lacks quality players up front as well as back. One Messi or Higuain cannot deliver the goods all the time. Whatever the people or media thinks about Messi, he is no Maradona. And there's not going to be another Maradona...And trust me, the time when one player could make a difference to a whole team is all over. May be they can do it for one game, but not a whole tournament. If Argentina, stays at position 4, its because they deserve to.

If at all Argentina does hold their fate in their own hands, it s down to Maradona and his undying spirit..
