the MT touch was lacking..but there were glimpses we can feel....
may be there plan was 2 focus on war sequences..

MT touch?
Writing war films is not easy.
Just look at mangal pandey or even asoka (Although not a freedom fighter).
They are really average or at times poor films because mostly war films lack soul.

In this MT has given so many dimensions to the king.

People say that it lacks mt touch because it is mainly a director's film as things are easier written than directed. But MT's brilliance is in giving a screenplay which justified all the characters and made us wonder what would come next.

If you criticize each and every malayalam film with the same amount of sincerity that you showed for pazhassi, you will find that most of them fall way below average.

I would not have said anything if I hadn't seen your other reviews.
But I read each of your other reviews just to see where you come from.
And your review for pazhassi is biased and it's obvious that you know it.

Pazhassi has undoubtedly upped the bar of malayalam cinema not just in terms of scale, but content as well.

You may not realize this now. But in the coming weeks you will realize it when other malayalam films release (maybe with the exception of kerala cafe).

And critic, just a suggestion, to be very honest, you should stop calling yourself that.
