Obama role for Will Smith?Friday, 16 January , 2009,
Hollywood star Will Smith says he will play the role of Barack Obama if given the chance, but is rather more reluctant to take on the job of a real-life US president.
"If I am ordered by the Commander-In-Chief to star in the film, I will do my duty as an American," Smith said at the London premiere of his new film Seven Pounds.
But the Hollywood star drew a line when it came to taking on the role of a real-life president.
"It's a whole lot more fun to be a movie star. That's a difficult job with a whole lot of lives on the line with every decision you make. With my job, I can just bring joy, I don't have to bring bad news," he said.
Smith said he would be in the audience, as an “eyewitness to history,” rather than on the stage at Obama’s inauguration on Tuesday.
"You know I thought about that, but I think I'm going to keep it a little more subdued than that. I'm just going to stand there and be an eyewitness to history." A huge galaxy of stars are expected to participate in Obama’s inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, including Beyonce, Usher, U2, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Shakira, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Renee Fleming, Garth Brooks, Mary J Blige, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend and Jennifer Nettles.

Benicio Del Toro, before and after Rogaine
Here comes another year, and another year’s worth of promising movies. I’m psyched to see the dozen listed here, and I have high expectations for most of them.
Not surprisingly, most of these are clustered around the summer blockbuster and fall awards seasons. Without any further ado ...
Feb. 13 — “Friday the 13th”
I usually dread remakes of classic horror films, but not this time. Although I love the original “Friday the 13th,” I’m not under any illusion that it’s an untouchable masterpiece. There is plenty of room for improvement and Jason Voorhees is such a great character, you’d really have to work hard to screw this one up.
May 8 — “Star Trek”
This one was on my list last year. It was originally slated for a Dec. 25, 2008, release. For some reason, during the past 18 years, Star Trek movies have been released in the winter. Paramount decided J.J. Abrams’ reboot of the series was worthy of a summer release, so it must be pretty good, right?
May 22 — “Terminator Salvation”
For the longest time, I didn’t give two figs about this movie. After all, McG was slated to direct it. McG is best known for helming the “Charlie’s Angels” movies and I thought the guy had no business even touching the Terminator franchise. Plus, he calls himself “McG.” How obnoxious is that? But, it’s hard to pass up a film starring Christian Bale, Helena Bonham Carter, Common and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Dang.
June 26 — “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”
Devastator’s gonna be in this one. ’Nuff said.
July 1 — “Public Enemies”
For several years now, I thought it would be awesome if someone made a wicked Depression-era gangster flick using Michael Mann’s gritty but stylish approach. Mann himself must’ve had the same idea, and cast Johnny Depp and Christian Bale to make this flick doubleplusgood. I'm also looking forward to Steven Dorff as Dillinger sidekick Homer Van Meter. Dorff played an unforgettable bloodsucking psychopath in 1998’s “Blade.”
July 10 — “Brüno”
I loved “Borat” and can’t wait to see Sacha Baron Cohen (once again) tormenting unsuspecting victims with his gonzo brand of improvisational humor. I’m especially looking forward to seeing the widely-reported incident in which Cohen’s shenanigans sparked a riot at an Arkansas cage fighting match.
Sept. 24 — “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”
This would be high on my list even it weren’t Heath Ledger’s final onscreen performance. Some of director Terry Gilliam’s best work is in the sci-fi/time travel genre (think “Time Bandits,” “12 Monkeys”) and this one boasts an amazing A-list cast: Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell. The supporting cast looks great, too, including pint-sized love machine Vern Troyer, Christopher Plummer and Tom Waits.
