Manchester United have accepted an offer of 80m from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
"United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player," said a statement from the English club.
It added that the decision followed "Cristiano's request - who has again expressed his desire to leave".
United described the offer for the 24-year-old as unconditional and added that they expected the matter to be concluded by 30 June.
    More to follow.

I am so happy to see the back of him.. I am glad he is going for such a huge money.. (80 million is crazy money even for Maradona himself) .. Manchester had some bad selling in the past.. But this will make up for it..

I really doubt whether he can replicate the success @ RM.. Anyways he will always remain one of the greats to pull up the Red of Manchester..

EPL wile really miss his antics and step overs..

    Who will United buy now?

Kelvin Leong gives you his list of four players who could very well replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
Do you really think that Sir Alex Ferguson will allow Ronaldo to leave without having a replacement lined up?
Come on, the wily Scotsman never leaves anything to chance.
He probably has a list already drawn up and with the 80 million pounds coming in from the Ronaldo deal, a few world class attackers could be on their way to United.

Here is a list of four possibles.

    Franck Ribery - Bayern Munich

The most likely candidate to fill the big shoes of Ronaldo.
The French wizard has dazzled the Bundesliga crowd but he knows he needs a bigger stage to showcase his imperious talent.
Real Madrid was one of the clubs rumoured to be interested but with Ronnie going to the Bernabau, Ferguson's path is cleared to sign the winger.

    Karim Benzema - Lyon

Another Frenchman who has been on United's wishlist for a few seasons now.
Blessed with the power of a beast and the natural ability to find the back of the net, Benzema will be an instant hit with the Old Trafford faithful.
Ferguson might just go for broke and use the world record fee from Ronaldo's transfer to purchase both him and Ribery.
    French invasion coming right up!

    Xavi - Barcelona

Ferguson has always been a big fan of the Catalan boy.
His precision on the pass and his dead-ball abilities are second to none as he gave Anderson a lesson in midfield play in the Champions League final.
Most critics will claim that Xavi will never leave Barca but after winning every domestic trophy available in Spain with his childhood club, a new challenge may prove too tempting?

    Arjen Robben - Real Madrid

A love for wingplay, Ferguson could very well walk into the Bernabau and bring Robben back to England.
One of the best dribblers in the game, Robben's place in the Madrid team will now be unsafe with the arrival of Kaka and Ronaldo.
