Being a diehard Barca fan , only because of their football philosophy and playing style what I am trying to tell is not a criticism of Pep or Messi but a painful observation . Over the last 4 years Barca's play revolves around Messi. With all the possession they have ,finally they try to penetrate through Messi. So when they are near the box or even inside the box they tend to pass it to Messi. Probably Messi has a greater chance of scoring compared to others as he is an exceptional player. But the big disadvantage is, it has taken the unpredictability factor from Barca's play. They don't shoot from outside the box, they don't try to create goal from nothing. Other players , however skilled they might be , are not testing themselves to score/try extravagant goals. These things have distorted the goal statistics of Barca and create the impression that players other than Messi can't score and Barca can't win without Messi. But it's not true. Argentina and Spain tell you the truth.
The message I would like to convey is, Barcelona should play a striker as a striker. David Villa is more than enough. But he should be played in the centre. They should have one or 2 players who can head home from set pieces and corners. Last but not the least they should undoubtedly improve their defense especially during set pieces.
