So today's Manoj K Jayan. He acted in many lead roles in the 90s, there was an expectation he would be a next big star. but most were flops.

Malayalam industry angane alla, those from families are encouraging others and giving them opportunities.
But as an audience if we accept those from cinema famiies easily, athu industry de fault alla. It's the fault of us, the movie watchers

But what I have noticed is filmmakers give plum opportunities to those actors who come from star families. Why did Vineeth Sreenivasan go for Pranav in Hridayam after NP delivered many box office hits?

Why did Alphonse Puthren cast PR in his next directorial?

Why are all top directors behind DQ and Fahad??? Ithokke alochikenda karyam aanu.

It is the filmmakers fault.

Nepotism exists everywhere but only recently has it crept into Mollywood though not in a big way

In Malayalam currently the busiest actors are Tovino and Asif Ali who have far more releases than DQ or Fahad. Plus some of the most popular young stars like Mathew, Nasleen etc.. are also from non fims families.

Both movie makers or watchers in Kerala do not care if the actor is from a film family or not. If the movie is good and the role has been portrayed well, it will work, if not it will be a bomb, irrespective of the family background.

If Nepotism guaranteed success in the Malayalam industry people like Gokul Suresh, Shravan Mukesh, Shaheen Siddique, Kalidas Jayram etc... must be big stars by now. On the other hand Arjun Asokan put in a lot of hard work to reach the status he has today. Nepotism is not a guarantee in Malayalam cinema.

I politely disagree Movie Lover.

Both Fahad and Prithvi did not have huge star fathers. Fazil was a known director, but the launch of his son failed miserably. Sukumaran was a big leading actor once upon a time and towards the later part of his life he portrayed strong supporting roles. Prithvi's debut was long after Sukumaran's demise. Both Fahad and Prithvi made it as stars due to their own accord, not because their fathers are huge stars.

The only truly successful superstar son is perhaps DQ, but how many movies does he do in a year? Its not like DQ is stealing everyone's opportunities! Dulquer barely has one release every year, on the other hand Asif Ali, Tovino etc have many more opportunities and releases. Pranav is not really interested. The Big Ms sons are not stealing anyone's opportunities like Hindi or Telugu.

I do not think Malayalm cinema is dictated by Nepotism. Yes children from film families might get debut opportunities easier, but success is never guaranteed based on their surname!
