Mahaveeyar is an experimental film so the safe way is to go for OTT release. But in the reviews the tell to watch it in the theater because it is visually appealing and good sound effects.
So just last week Netflix movie Gray Man was released. This movie had a limited and selected theater screening too including in India.
So I think this model should be adopted by Malayalam industry too. Eg, For Mahaveeyar suppose it is acquired by OTT platform then afterwards in selected cities like Trivandrum, Ernakulam where there are more films fan and crowd resides, the makers can hold few special screenings in multiplex like PVR. Only some seriously cinema fans should attend these screening and price can be a little bit more compared to regular screening. Then after the weekend screening release the movie on OTT in just 3 days.
In this way, those who really want theatrical experience can watch it peacefully. Other casual movie fans can watch on OTT without any complaints about the craft. So no more karachil like cash poyye, thalipoli padam, bore padam etc.
