I am not denying all the facts. Kaliyattam was a well made movie (unlike Kumari). Definitely deserved a better run. Desadanam ran well in theaters , but it was running small theaters (Kottayam Asha etc), the collection was not that high. In my opinion, the negativity is high among our community. We are ready to accept deviations in other languages, but when it comes to Malayalam cinema, we are a lot more critical. Marketing and media support are other two areas. Other south Indian language movie industries are getting much better support from their local media. Political and religious division is another reason for the recent changes in the box office performances of some of our movies.

When you consider box office figures too , I do not know whether you are following the figures closely. Our only drawback is that we lack a pan indian industry hit in a grand manner. We have made consistent box office hits every month. Its only 10 months this year and we already have 14 box office hits whereas some industries which you said produces big pan indian successes do not have consistent hits like us.
Everyone thought that Kanthara will be the season winner in Kerala but then Jaya Jaya Jaya hain came and proved it wrong. I dont want to degrade any industry but the fact is that other than these Pan indian hits which are just those three or four movies, this industry does not even have a clean hit. I have followed the box office figures. But since the industry produced two big industry hits which have attained grand success all over the world the box office performance of other films are overlooked and that industry got noticed
So I feel we are not in that bad shape as you all project us to be.
Communal negativity is there everywhere the topmost being Bollywood which is now the worst performer now in terms of box office.
I agree that Malayalis are more critical about their own language films while they welcome other language films. But they have accepted our films whenever they had a good content. initially there might be degrading but finally after a good WOM they have collected very well.
Just imagine we had a big super hit Rorscach in the beginning of month and now at the end of month we have Jaya Jaya Jaya hain and now beginning of Nov we are having Kooman. That too three of them different genres- One being horror , second being slapstick comedy and third being a thriller.
